Why we chose to add wool-viscose items to our linen clothing
Since I started my linen clothing business 7 years ago, I’ve been looking for a fabric that would complement my linen pieces, especially for the colder season. When I discovered the wool-viscose blend, I immediately fell in love. Many of my customers choose my designs for their minimalist approach, exceptional craftsmanship, and commitment to sustainability. They often ask for items that combine warmth with elegance during the colder months, which is why the wool-viscose blend is the perfect addition to my collection.
The fabric adds versatility to the wardrobe, offering cozy yet refined pieces that are just right for winter while staying true to the natural, eco-friendly ethos of my brand. Over the years, I’ve designed collections that resonate with customers who appreciate timeless, high-quality pieces.
Benefits of using wool-viscose fabric in winter clothes
When I started my linen clothing business, I conducted extensive research on linen. I gained a wealth of knowledge about its history, how and when it originated, how people used it in the past, the process of making threads from flax, and the many benefits of linen compared to other fabrics. When I decided to introduce a new type of fabric to my collection, I wanted something natural and eco-friendly. That’s when I discovered the wool-viscose blend. I delved into researching both materials, exploring their origins, histories, and characteristics to ensure they aligned with my values and the essence of my brand.
Wool - The journey from wool to fabric begins with shearing, sorting, and scouring to clean the fleece. The fibers are then carded, spun into yarn, dyed, and woven into fabric. This ancient process, refined over millennia, combines traditional craftsmanship with modern innovations. Wool is known for its insulating properties and durability. Learn more about the wool here
Viscose - Viscose, made from renewable wood pulp, is soft, breathable, and biodegradable. Modern closed-loop production systems reduce environmental impact, making viscose a sustainable alternative. It is plant-based origins and natural fiber-like comfort makes it ideal for clothing. Learn more about viscose fabric here.
This blend of wool and viscose is perfect for winter, offering warmth and breathability. Wool provides natural insulation, trapping heat, while viscose adds softness and smoothness for ultimate comfort. The fabric is also moisture-wicking and wrinkle-resistant, making it a stylish and low-maintenance choice for cold weather. This is why I believe and trust that the wool-viscose fabric is the best choice for my collection, perfectly aligning with the quality and values my brand represents.
The colours we chose for our new winter clothing collection
In our new winter collection, you can expect garments that pair beautifully with our existing linen pieces, designed in warm, earthy tones such as Vanilla, Camel, and Bark. These colours not only complement the natural hues of linen but also create a sophisticated and cozy look for winter.
The Bark colour is a rich blend of brown and dark green, while the Camel is soft and delicate. I wasn’t sure if my customers would love the Vanilla colour, but as soon as I posted it, I received so many orders for this cozy shade!
How to care for your wool-viscose clothing
When I decided to order the wool-viscose fabric, I made sure to thoroughly research the best care methods for this material. I reached out to industry colleagues who already work with wool and contacted the fabric supplier to gather all the necessary information. My priority was to ensure that I provided you with high-quality fabric and that you would be fully satisfied with your new wool items. I wanted you to feel confident in your purchase and equipped with the right knowledge to properly care for your wool-viscose pieces.
After receiving the fabrics, we created several sample items. I tested both hand washing and machine washing in the wool program, followed by air drying, repeating the process multiple times to ensure I could offer you the most accurate and reliable care instructions
Air out wool-viscose clothing to keep them fresh
Wool clothing naturally resists odours and bacteria, keeping your garments fresh for longer periods without frequent washing. To refresh your wool garment, simply air it out overnight, preferably in damp or cool weather, as this helps rejuvenate the fibers. For stains, spot clean promptly using a mild detergent to maintain the integrity of the fabric. If odours persist despite airing out, it's time to wash your wool clothing.
How to wash wool-viscose
When washing wool clothing, always use cold water (no more than 30°C) to prevent shrinking or damage. Hand washing is ideal, but you can also machine wash on a wool or gentle cycle. Use a wool or mild detergent with a pH between 6-8 to preserve the fibers. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, which can weaken the wool and reduce longevity. Placing your wool garments in a washing bag provides extra protection during machine washing, ensuring they stay in excellent condition.
How to dry wool/viscose
When drying wool clothing or knitted items, avoid wringing them, as this can stretch or damage the delicate fibers. Instead, gently roll your wool garment in a clean towel to press out excess water. Once most of the moisture is removed, reshape the garment and lay it flat to dry at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Proper drying techniques help maintain the structure of wool clothing and knitted pieces, ensuring they keep their shape and softness over time.
How to iron wool/viscose
Use a low-heat steam iron to gently press your wool clothing, placing a towel between the garment and the iron to protect the fibers. Alternatively, you can use a steamer to remove wrinkles effectively. Steaming is also a great way to relax and stretch the fibers, which can help restore the shape of your garment if it has shrunk. Always handle wool with care to maintain its natural texture and durability.
How to choose the right size
Please note: Our wool/viscose fabrics are unwashed, so they may shrink up to 5% after the first wash.
To ensure the best fit, we recommend reviewing the measurements of each item before ordering. My own experience
When we first considered adding wool-viscose pieces to the collection, I wanted to truly understand how they’d feel and perform. So, I made a wool jacket for myself and wore it for a while, pairing it with my favourite linen pieces. I was curious—would it keep me warm without being too heavy? Would the wool feel soft or itchy against my skin?
In the photo, I’m wearing the Sue wrap top and Rumi skirt in Ocean, layered with the Mika wrap jacket in Camel. Honestly, I loved how it all came together. The jacket felt so cozy and soft, and it paired beautifully with the linen, creating a look that was warm, comfortable, and effortlessly elegant. It was everything I hoped for—and more!
